Join us on Sunday, August 20 near St. Martin to canoe down the Sauk River and learn about the connection between agriculture and water quality. We’ll launch canoes at 9:30AM at a private landing and then we’ll take a midway break for a catered lunch around 12PM. Canoes, shuttles, and lunch will be provided free of charge. RSVPs required by Wednesday, August 16 to ensure accurate count for lunch and canoes at www.StearnsCountySWCD.net/canoeride.
During our midway break, there will be activities for kids and presentations about the All Acres for Our Water project and the work farmers have been doing to increase soil health and prevent runoff into the river. Activities for kids include an exploration of water insects (macroinvertebrates), a water table demonstration (soil runoff model), and ice cream making.
Participants will be informed about changes in the plan due to poor weather or low river levels. The exact location will be emailed closer to the event. In case of low water levels, the ride will be moved to the Mississippi River. Participants will be notified via email of any changes.
All participants must sign a waiver and children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 18 need waivers signed by parent. No lifeguard will be present. All equipment will be supplied by Clear Waters Outfitting and waivers will be available on site.
