2021 Annual Report Now Available

Dear Friends and Partners;

We are pleased to share with you our Stearns County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) 2021 Annual Report. This publication highlights the initiatives and projects that are helping us accomplish our mission to enhance the soil, water, and natural resources necessary for productive and profitable agriculture; safe and affordable drinking water; and wildlife habitat for all Stearns County residents, businesses, and visitors. You will see that working directly with agricultural producers in addressing their unique resource concerns is a significant and challenging workload for staff. Agriculture is a key component of our local economy and sustaining it through wise land use, targeted financial assistance, and trusted expertise is a priority. In addition to this core concern, we also work extensively with municipalities, lakeshore owners, and nonprofit organizations on a wide range of other conservation projects. During this past year, the Stearns County SWCD leveraged over $6 million for on-the-ground conservation throughout Stearns County to protect and improve our surface water, soil health, drinking water, and wildlife habitat. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the support we receive from the Stearns County Commissioners and our partnerships with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), and many others.

If you have any questions or suggestions about any of our programs, or would like copies of the Annual Report, please give our office a call at 320-251-7800 #3.

Sincerely,

Matt Bruyette
