2002 Stearns County SWCD Outstanding Conservation Cooperator

Brad Kjeldahl, Belgrade, MN

Brad Kjeldahl's accomplishments include:

Starting in 1998, Brad has planted 70 acres of filter strips, 26 acres of riparian buffers, and 46 acres of native grasses and tree plantings for wildlife. A total of 142 acres of native grasses, flowers, and trees have been planted on his farm for erosion control, water quality, and wildlife.
- Implements "zone till", a type of conservation tillage on approximately 1600 acres of  land.
- Constructed 8 water and sediment control basins in erosion prone areas.
- Honored at the 66th Annual Convention of the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel in St. Paul on December 10th, 2002.  
- Recognized locally for his conservation work in March, 2003 at the Stearns County SWCD’s Annual Awards Banquet.

Brad Kjeldahl receives his Stearns County SWCD "Outstanding Conservation Cooperator" award from Randy Frahm, associate editor of "The Farmer" magazine.
